Winch Accessories

So my wife picked me up a Warn VR8000 I will be mounting it in the next week and wanted some opinions of what necessary accessories I need to carry for recovery.

I am thinking a tree saver(2x8), snatch block(20,000 lb), recovery strap(2x30), d-rings and gloves.

Am I missing anything? Should I replace the tow hooks on the OEM bumper with something else for recovery?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A couple ideas: winch cover, and a few extra shackles. You really can't have too many. Snatch strap would be nice but not necessary as far as recovery gear goes, just be careful with the recovery strap.

A nice new aftermarket bumper goes great with a new winch too.

I keep a big old blanket in the back to throw over the cable while winching. Plus it's always good to keep a blanket on board.

Good idea.

Got one that I use when I have my pups in the Jeep, I'll start keeping it in there all the time.

Daystar makes a isolater block that holds hook in place and also doubles as a dampner....pretty handy

Winch Plate

Do you need a winch plate if your bumper is set up for a winch, like an XRC bumper?

get a winch cover!! It doesn't do an amazing job of keeping it from rusting but I definitely think it helps! Also I did the solenoid mod, I moved it under the hood. My wires were up against the grill, it took the paint right off after a few days! With it under the hood, it looks cleaner and I have some in-cab controls. BTW if your doing in-cab controls don't cheap out and buy those crappy auto-zone switches. They're a joke, just buy the OEM switches online. They're expensive but it'll look cleaner and work better.
