Parts for a Warn are cheap and they're almost always rebuildable. I bought a used Warn x8000i for $250. The brake didn't work and it was noisy. $150 in parts (mostly for the brake and sun gear) and paint and I have effectively a brand new $1,200 winch. It works perfect... smooth and quiet.

I've had some good and bad luck with my Engo 9000lb winch. I've had it for 2-3 years now and the only thing that has happened is one of the solenoids died, leaving me in a stick situation. Other than that its been fine.

OP, looking at the original post, you said your cheap winch has cost you thousands in bodywork.....coulda used that money on a Warn, I guess......

My Daddy always said "good things are not cheap, and cheap things are not good...."

He was so right.......sorry about all your troubles, though, Bud!!!

Yeah well Daddy was right and I like Jerry's motto buy American. I also lucked out in a since for i found the same color tub for my TJ at a salvage and it was alot cheaper than getting my current one fixed. So I didnt spend 1g yet on the swap and I have all the parts plus some extra goodies cuz I cant resist the Itch.

Have you seen this pic?

IMO if possible, just bite the bullet and buy a warn. You won't go wrong. There's a reason they're the biggest name out there... And personally for the situations I use my winch in, I wouldn't want the slightest bit of doubt about if it was going to work properly or not.... That's just my thoughts though
