winch mount? ??

Happy new year Jeepsters! Question, please: The 98 TJ i recently bought has a 3" dual tube front bumper, with what appears to be flanges for light mounts. I got a winch for Christmas. Does anyone have advice for how I should mount this? It looks like I'll need a "winch mount" type bumper but dont want to buy another bumper when the one I have is perfectly fine.... Thought about having a plate fabricated.... Any ideas? Thanks!

Any standard winch plate will work unless you have an upright model Warn winch.

Some tube bumpers are not winch compatible and do not have room for the winch fairlead, or the tubes are blocking where the winch cable needs to run. Other tube bumpers can accommodate a winch.

Without pics of your tube bumper, it would be hard for anyone to guess if your bumper will work or not.

Post a pic but if the bumper is one of those hollow cheap smittybilt type tubular bumpers, then it will not work much less be strong enough to hold up to any type of impact that would even protect the front end and the winch.

Most any winch mount should work fine with your bumper. I don't recommend the Harbor Freight Tools version just because it doesn't work without additional drilling.

This one from Tomken works nicely, I had one on my previous TJ... TOMKEN MACHINE - Item Detail

It has a cool mini-bullbar in front of the winch that would serve to help protect the winch from smaller impacts.
