Winch setup

Hey guys, It's been awhile since I've posted. I've been pretty busy sellin Nissans. Anyway.. I've ordered a Smittybilt XRC-8 winch for the TJ. I'm gonna mount it on the factory bumper for now. My question is what all do I need to set it up properly? Other than a mounting plate. Wires? Switches? Battery?

All you'll need is a suitable mounting plate. Use your existing battery for winching, it'll do fine for most needs. When that battery finally goes, then you can go for a different kind of battery more adept at recovering from the deep current draws a fully loaded winch can draw.

Connect the winch electrical connections directly to the battery, make sure to not just connect the winch's negative lead to the chassis as some have tried with often horrific consequences to the vehicle's internal electrical wiring.

That is it, just make sure all the mounting hardware you use are Grade 5 or Grade 8.
