Wiper Blades?

What are the best wiper blades for TJ's? Pretty much all the ones I've tried suck. I'm looking for something that is smooth, soft, and lasts more the 6 months.

if you find a set that will last more than 6 months let us know . i usually go with whatever is least expensive at the auto parts store. i have tried the expensive ones, but they don't last any longer than the cheap ones.

i think the factory recommended size is 13", but i usually go with 14" to get better coverage. 15" will work too, but it hits the rubber gasket at the top of the windshield.

I have no clue what size mine are. I know they are the size that the little book in front of all the blades in AutoZone says to use (13 I assume)

The tj wiper arms suck. I bent mine in so it gave more tension on the blades. Not a lot but it made my wipers last about a year is Oregon where it rains half the year. As far as a brand I have had every one by now I think and I try not to go bottom of the line but not the most expensive. Middle of the road say 10-20 bucks or so is the beat. The 499 ones at walmart aren't going to hold up no matter what.

Yeah, wiper blades don't seem to last long. I was trying expensive brands to see if they would last longer but they actually were worse. I've gone to buying the cheapest blades I can find now. Everyones suppose to change blades every year, I usually find I can go much longer than that, except on my Jeep.

guess I'm just lucky. I don't expect anything thin and rubber to last more than a year in our heat though.

If you guys need more pressure against the windshield, napa sells a thing just for that p/n 7353922

they fit on my 2005 with out any issues that so ever.

actually, i just measured my wipers, and they are 15's, so i think i must have had 16's on there at one point and they were too long. as you can see on the video there is about 1/4" to 1/8" of space between the windshield gasket and wiper blade at the top.

X3. My Silblades were installed on April 2008 and still look and work like new. I was even able to order them in gold to match the rest of my trim. By far the best blades I've ever had.

X2. That's the only brand of windshield wiper blade I've ever owned in 45+ years of driving that ever lasted more than 6 months or perhaps a year. They cost a little more and I believe you can only get them on the internet but I'm sold on them. It seems I've gotten pretty close to five years out of a few sets of them.

OK, a trip to Advanced Auto resulted in a brand new set of 14" Trico OEM blades. I tried the 15's but they rubbed the window seal. I'll go online and look at the X2's. Thanks for all your input!

You're probably the only guy here who can actually call a 46 year old a young whippersnapper!!

I live in Seattle so rain is only a concern for like ten months out of the year. Seriously though, I'm a stickler for visibility and I've tried just about every wiper blade stocked by the auto stores. Rather than waste money on the newest and greatest blades, I religiously apply Rain-X to my windshields every time I wash them. Lots of Rain-X with low priced wiper blades replaced once a year and I'm set.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Some minor things are lacking IMO with the interior and the 4.0L engine had to be replaced about nine months ago with a refurb that had 60K on it due to a bad piston (I suspect that my girlfriend not changing the oil for a year might have played a role in that.) God I wish I was familiar with this forum back then because I would have used that opportunity to justify a V8 Swap.

You don't think it could use a lift and some beefy tires?

I like stock Jeeps, and I think the color of yours combined with the 1/2 doors is really sharp! A lift and tires won't hurt, but if you're only doing it for looks you're not going to improve it much IMHO. For wheeling, yeah you do.

I'd love to have 2 jeeps: a basically stock "beach cruiser" that doesn't get wheeled, and a lifted wheeler. Of course, I'd love to have the money for both as well....
