Working Stock Radio, 2000 TJ

So my radio is finally crapping out on me. Won't play through the front speakers and when you turn the volume up, the rear speakers only stay loud for about 10 seconds then the volume goes down. I am hunting for a stock radio for it, preferably one with the cassette deck so I can run my iphone through it. Anyone looking to part with theirs? I in Indy, so that would be optimal, but can do paypal to buy it.

Just curious, you do know don't need tape deck to run iPhone right? What you would pay for a used factory unit can buy a aftermarket deck with an aux or USB jack. They are common and on all but the most basic of players.

I run my iPhone via USB cable. And it charges while playing.

Do you have a price cap?

You would be so much better off calling Crutchfield and getting a replacement radio, they have iPod/iPhone compatible ones for just over $100 (I have been eyeballing them myself and havent pulled the trigger yet. most of their radios come with an install kit. www.crutchfield.com

I'm in the same boat as OP, but I don't have a radio in mine at all. I've bought quite a bit of stuff from Crutchfield, but I'm seriously considering finding a stock radio. Why? 2 reasons.

1. The stock one isn't as likely to be stolen (hopefully)
2. Stock radios have large, simple to use controls that are very hard to find on an aftermarket stereo.

I'll probably visit local salvage yards when I get ready for one. Chrysler used the same radio for Jeep, Durango and Caravan. As long as it's the correct one, it will fit right in.

I have one out of a 05 TJ.
Just replaced mine so I can have a AUX and a USB input. From crutchfield
If someone wants it make me an offer and pay shipping and it's all yours. Better you use it then it sits in my garage.

Will a 2005 work for a 2000?

Good points. And weren't stock waterproof or resistant?

I went the other way. Swapped the ugly aftermarket with tiny, unusable buttons for the stock. Looks soooo much better in the dash. Problem now is that I lost sound out of the sound bar. I am getting sound only out of the front speakers, which are awful.
