I would use something with moly in it... Amsoil synthetic WITH moly would be better...

Pretty sure others will chime in...

This is old school... maybe Mobil synthetic is fine... but in all CVJ or old trucks I have work with I have always used the green stuff...

Again, some of the other guys here that keep current can bring me up to date.

At least yours didn't do this when it went.... See below

As far as how it happened, I can tell by the first pic, your needle bearings were dry. No lube=failure.

QUOTE=99TJCrawler;1091951]Stuff breaks man, it sucks but it is what it is. It could have been much worse or more expensive stuff lol. Just get to an auto parts store and take an afternoon to get it all fixed up. Dude if that makes the worst day of your life, you've had it pretty easy What was the 'pucker factor' when that thing broke off tho. Bet it was like an 11 on a 1-10 scale. It's gonna cost you like 75 bucks to get that all fixed tho. dont stress dude![/QUOTE]

Dude - seriously. If you are as cheap as me, you can do this yourself for less than $100. If you are as old as me, you'll use whatever is left over to buy beer - yes - cheap beer.
