I posted this before in another forum, I was going to rebuild my AX5. It would not go into any gear, didnt matter if the engine was running or not. I could not force it into gear moving or standing, running or not. I was told the transmission was done so I started to remove it tonight and while trying to remove the gearshift, the little round retainer (the one you have to push down and twist) was very hard to depress or turn. Once I got it to slightly twist the transmission went into gear. It now will go into every gear like it there was never anything wrong with it. WTH?
I had disconnected the drivershafts and the slave clyinder but I could not get it into gear with this done. Once I started manipulating the gearshift retainer it works with no problem. I did find what looked to be like chunks of plastic on the top of the transmission itself where the gearshift goes into it. Anyone know what could cause this? I took a picture of the gear shift does it look like anything is missing? I remember reading somthing about a plastic bushing that can sometimes cause shifting problems. Anyone got any ideas?
