Cool wrangler duratracs or destination mt?

I like the way both tires look and both have gotton good reviews on tire rack, but I'm not sure which to buy for my wrangler. I live in the piedmont of n.c and we don't get much snow and when we do by nite It turns to ice on the streets for a few days. We get more hard rains than anything else. Which would be best for ice or should i even take that in consideration since we hardly get any? I can get a set of 5 firestone destination mts for 830 with road hazzard and 4 duratracs for 743 without road hazzard. and I can get the fith duratrac for 175 total shiped not stemed or mounted on rim. Which way shoul I go? any good advice will be helpful.

I love my Duratracs. Never had the Firestones, so I can't offer an opinion there.

Well if it means anything in regards to Jeeps.. I've heard a lot more about the duratracs then the Firestones.. If jeepers are using the firestones.. I haven't heard from them..

Guess it all depends on what you want though.. The Firestone is a true MT where as the duratracs are a agressive AT.. The firestone will be s little better overall off road.. Where as the duratrac will be better on the road.. With that said while they won't clear out mud as well, the duratracs have been given great offroad reviews since they have come out

I've been running the Duratracs for over a year now and love them.
Before you order from tire rack, contact our Forum Vendor for Discount Tire. I believe that they will match price and include free shipping. If you have a DT in your area, you can have them shipped there and installed with warranty

thanks for the advice everyone. I don't do much off roading here. The price for the destination mts here are so great thats why im having a hard time deciding. Firestone is doing there by 3 get one free deal and are discounting the fifth. Thats my delima. Is there that much diff. between the two?

Duratracs will be better in the rain than an M/T. Also you can save $100 on GY tires through Tread Lightly - Home that might make the decision easier...
(p.s. Love my Duratracs )

I have Duratracs and like everyone else really like them. They have plenty of siping whicj makes them good on ice. Might check the siping on both and see which has the most. Normally an AT has more than a MT.

the destination mt have no siping. they are cheaper because of the buy 3 get 1 free deal. However they had awesome surveys on tire rack for ice and hydroplaning. 2nd in there class. check it out and get back with me on what you all think

I've got the Destination M/Ts and they handled the snow beautifully today. They do have some decent road noise under 10 mph. That's the only experience I have with them but a Jeeper I know loves them for mudding off-road.

I also have the Destination MTs. No complaints from me, seem to handle well off road and tread life has been pretty good.

Terrific! Thanks for pointing that out! Tirerack has 33x12.50 15's for $158 each, thats only $138 a piece for 5 after the $100 discount.

I think that's part of why they're so highly rated

An M/T will not perform as well on ice and wet roads as an A/T. Unless possibly you have them siped.

Good year has a mail in rebate going on right now. Check your local g/y dealership for pricing. $40 and $80 if using a g/y credit card.

My local g/y is $80 more than purchasing on line and having them installed. This price included balance and rotation for the life of the tires. An option I found valuable.

Thank you, that's great to know. It's actually $75.00 after the donation of $25.00. To tread lightly.

I've got right at 35k on my duratracs and love them. They did great at Attica when we went. They do great in the rain on the road. And haven't had any problems getting around in this ice/snow storm we just got hit with. My only complaint with the duratracs is they only go up to a 315/70/17, I'd like them in a 37

Can we get around what? One treadlightly rebate per member. One GY rebate per household (or whatever their wording is..) You get both if you apply for both. I did last year
