wrangler had the worst report..

I read a consumer report rating and on every page with a vehicle review they had rating from 17points to 80 something.. I turned to a page with a wrangler in it and the points for the wrangler was 17=lowest.

For the time I had my jeep (less than a year) many things I fixed, or annoyed me even in stock form.

So I can understand what a regular non mechanical person with no tools would rate it horribly.

Lets just say if my other half (girl) wanted to buy a wrangler, I would say no.. because I hate fixing other peoples cars. heck I hate fixing my heep and her maintaining her corolla, which is basically trouble fee.

Dont feel bad folks, because the liberty did not rate any higher on the todem pole.

I made the mistake of listening to Consumer Reports when I bought a new dishwasher 3 years ago. What a pile of crap that thing was. It lasted until this spring. That is why I no longer lend them ANY credibility. Consumer reports SUCKS :flip off:

It is a lot like Camping out or staying in a fine hotel with gold EVERYWERE.I would rather Campout on a nice warm summer day than be coped up in a hotel room unless I am not alone....But anyway that would be just as good in a tent But you take a man thats DD is Lambo or even an Escalade and gets into a bone stock Wrangler and he is going to compare it to his Lambo and no we can face it it doesn't have the 0-60 in 4 sec or the fine leather heated seats with lumbar bags ect.But if it did WOULD IT BE A JEEP OR ANY KIND OF OFFROAD AND ONROAD FUN TOY? IT IS ALL IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER????tHE POINT IS WE LIKE THEM AND A LOT AT THAT BUT THE MAN DOWN THE STREET MAY NOT AND THAT IS ALL OPINION AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT OPINIONS ARE LIKE!!!

Does Consumer Reports know how I feel when I'm crawling up that 50 degree hill in my wrangler screaming through my CB to my buddies about how nice and fresh the air is up there?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FCK CONSUMER REPORTS!

How about my Touareg???? Consumer reports rammed my touareg and it was the best SUV I've ever had.

Well I'm glad WE all share the same feeling. Being broke, and jobless right now in a big city there is not much I can do to get out doors.

I bought the jeep do to my personality. always like an adventure and the outdoors. I do look forward to YOSEMITE next month, With the top off in the valley. Its too bad none of my friends feel the same, I am the only person I know with a jeep. Everyone else has luxury or sports cars.

Its like I have two groups of friends, ones who I regulary hang out with since highschool, and the ones who rides motorcycles. I am trying to find friends who like the outdoors.. If I got a CB radio i'd be talking to myself.

don't wear jeans to a black tie affair, and don't even attempt to compare a jeep to a regular automobile. it's a jeep, get the he&& over it, and drive your lexus if you want to talk about ride quality and road noise. there, i said it. i hate people who think off road is their driveway but still somehow feel qualified to make comments....... losers, every one of them.

They can eat their reviews when they're stuck on the roads in they're luxury cars in bumper to bumper traffic when cities are being evacuated due to chemical/boilogical/nuclear attacks and we pass by them through the ditches and medians and and

Oops - that sounded mean and paranoid didn't it?

Agreed....the CR groupies are just that.....groupies. They come from the "comfort" and "luxury" set who have forgotten what it means to get a hard one now and then...

I guess it was two years ago the wrangler and Cherokee were in 7 and 8 in the cheapest vehicle to own from production to final recycling with the Maybach being the most expensive. Let them rate all they want, resale value on wranglers is about the highest of any vehicle, find me a cheap 8 year old wrangler in a dealer lot, they don't exist....
My 98XJ has almost 400,000mi on it and got a new engine at 330,000mi, I'll be driving it for another 10 years... as for the TJ's, they'll be in my will...

bah, keeping a jeep in the road is a cake walk compared to keeping an antique Harley as a daily driver, thankfully I don't have to rely on my old pan for my transportation any more.

There is no substitute for the utility of a good ol' jeep. It will go anywhere. I would like to see an Escalade take to the back trails of the Sierras.

I just bought my 1st jeep 2 weeks ago. I have spent$530.00 so far new fuel assembly, fender flares, side step,I have set sanded and buffed the baby and now I need to change out the transmission mount. Its just a toy to me. Its not my means of transportation. Now I understand where you are coming from. I would buy something reilably for everyday use too. But I love the outdoors and my jeep can drive anywhere I can go. My67 mustang with a351 cleveland will get there fast but you will have to stop at the edge of the blacktop. Good luck.

I think these people forget that the TJ design hasn't changed much from the original Jeeps of long ago. The originals were built for the war effort and not comfort.

After the war, jeeps were marketed as utility vehicles for farmers and ranchers as a substitute for tractors (the "sport" in SUV came later). I've seen some old pics of them with farm implements attached (plows etc.). So, having this kind of heritage, I think the TJ should be rated in a different category than other vehicles. As far as reliablity, the TJ gets an A+++ with me!

CR is like movie critics to me. Usually if a movie critic says a movie sucks it's the best movie to check out.

My jeep has been the best thing I've ever bought. I will keep it forever.

its awesome to read this thread and realize that Jeepers are truly a different breed. Its not the ride quality its the ride, not a road trip its an adventure...and gas mileage...who the hell cares. Jeeps are fun, reliable, and we cant forget the top off on a sunny day So in my book jeeps score an 80, who cares what those CR douches think

CR - Consistent Opinions Worth Little

Arizona Jeeper, you've stated it well. A modification of the infamous bumper sticker says it well: "It's a Jeep Thing; CR Doesn't Understand." I've watched those rating for a decade and I stand in amazement at their evaluations based on grossly incomplete compilation of real data. Most of us in R & D would be fired if we developed opinions based on as few facts as CR. It's a good thing we all know better.

I did my due diligence before buying my second Wrangler 2 weeks ago after not having one for 7 years..
I dug around the forums to see if there was any real issues with them and went by that

I have a Chevy, a Porsche, two harleys, and two boats with Yamaha engines... I needed SOMETHING to work on

Thats how I met you folks

I have owned my TJ for just over a year and enjoy all it has to offer. It has been very reliable, I can modify it to suit my personality, and it will allow me to explore places few other vehicles can go. I think I will keep my Jeep. Atleast until our president and congress begin to use the same health insurance they are trying to force on all of us.
