Wrangler Model Tech Forums

I guess this could still go in this forum as it pertains to why are there WAY more posts in the TJ forum and usually always way more people viewing this section than any other?

Are TJ's just that much more popular? Were there really that many more manufactured than the others, or what?

As far as locally, most of the Jeeps I see around are either Sports or just plain Wranglers, as far as any emblems/decals on them.

Don't think I've seen a TJ around here yet!

Thanks

jeep wranglers with model years from 1997-2006 are all TJ's. there were several different packages offered throughout that time: SE, X, Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Unlimited, Unlimited Sahara, Unlimited Rubicon.

Well, IMHO, having owned a 1978 CJ-7, the TJ carries on the best of the CJ with modern reliability and refinement. (And it' not made by AMC!)

Now it could be argued that, the really true civilian jeep experience is the original CJ-5, and everything else is watered down, but at least the TJ still has most of the DNA from the CJ series.

The JK (2007-now) really is more like a car then a CJ and starts getting away from the original experience. The interior of the 2011 really starts turning into a Camry.

Anyone can buy a car or truck, but when you buy a TJ or older, you have something different. Jeep needs to remember that and not do what Toyota did and turn the FJ-40 into the FJ cruiser. Soccer Moms need not apply. (Jeep Moms please include pics! )

Reasons.

They have been around long enought that the coil spring suspension has had a great foothold and the aftermarket is full of parts for TJ's more then any other.

Also, they are still fairly new 2006 was last year, and they are still found for decent prices and with good quality and less miles. Most people want the coils over springs blah, blah. And of course most people want a newer style vehicle and the JK is still expensive and new to many. Thus...

The TJ has a bigger following.

But a Jeep is a Jeep, CJ - JK I'd drive em all.

personally I prefer the looks of the CJ-7 (I had an 80 Renegade) love the interior better then any other model... this said I like the TJ's improvements - a heater that works well, great seats and how the soft top works...

the CJ-8 is my all time favorite beast... shoulda, coulda, woulda... dang!

gotta say though I love my 04 Rubi... lock, box, stock ah nice machine...

Had an '80 CJ5 from '85 to '08 that was slightly modded. My '03 Rubicon is everything I wanted the CJ to be but couldn't afford at the time.

I love CJ 7s,always have, always will.I couldn't afford one back in the 80s. I thought I was going to buy one.It was 1986,and the black Renegade, fully loaded, just what I wanted, tipped the scales at over $24,000.00.I wound up buying a Toyota SR5 Turbo Xtra cab instead, because it was $8000.00 less.23 years later,I found that buying a really nice CJ-7 would actually cost more than the 2003 TJ i bought instead,so here I am.Still love the CJ-7!
