I just bought a 99 Wrangler Sport 2 weeks ago, and after doing some research on the Forums, I deduced that:
If you want security with a soft top, get a GOOD (not stock) locking console
(, and/or keep anything that invites break-ins hidden.
There are a few options for locking the hood
MPG is minimally different between the 4cyl & 6 cyl. Neither is 'good gas mileage'. People don't buy Jeeps to save on gas money, they buy them because they're Jeeps.
When people build these things up with mods, they generally use them. Sometimes they abuse them. If you buy one that has already been built, be ready to replace whatever they wore out & decided to sell rather than fix.
(Good indications of this would be alot of deep gouges in the frame / skid plates, oil leaks, munched body, you know the drill.)
One thing that I kept seeing when I was shopping was quick disconnects
up front. I walked away from each Jeep that had these, each one had other serious problems on closer inspection as well.
That being said, I AM still new to Jeeps. This forum is full of great, helpful, and friendly people, I'm sure you'll here from more soon!
