Its a decent tip depending on horsepower and what size you are running. A skinny agressive tire(im talking 10.50 or skinnier) will dig down in mud and pull better but would dig you down in sand pretty rapidly. Any type of all terrain makes a good sand tire for the most part. Width is a big part of how well you stay on top with weight distribution. Ive run mud bogs a long time and ran about every type of tire. In 4wd just about any tire is good. Ive got about the most aggressive tread tire out there besides Agricultural tires, and i can walk around on white sand beaches or deep powder sand pretty easily in 2 wheel drive. But alot of that is due to 15 inches of width under each corner. A Jeeps weight makes it do well on sand with about any tire. Except for maybe a LTB thas 35" tall and 9 inches wide. But all around if you are goin to be driving on just sand and few slick surfaces an a/t will serve you well on highway and offroad.
