Yet another lift kit question (zone lift)

Background first, I have a jk that I lifted with a four inch procomp. My son just bought a 98 TJ and wants me to help him do a lift.

Due to his budget constraints we have narrowed it down to a zone kit. I am trying to convince him to stay with a 3 inch kit to eliminate drive line problems.

I was researching here today and saw that many recommend the zone 4.5 lift. One of my questions is how many issues am I going to run into with a older semi rusted body and frame, when trying to remove body bolts? Personally I'm not to kean on the idea of breaking body bolts off.

With tha being said, would it be better to just tackle a three inch suspension lift? I would prefer to put I higher $$ lift on it like a ome, or procomp, but he just can't afford it. I don't want to have him do something that will cost him much more in the end.

One more question p, does the zone kit come with brake line re locators, or will we need to purchase extended lines separately?

Thanks guys in advance for you input.

Zone is a great lift! They are the sister company to BDS and Fox Suspension. For the money the 4.25 lift is solid. I recommend it if you are on a budget for sure. I also recommend the nitro shocks with it as well, and get some sway bar dicos while you are at it. But if you don't want all of the vibration problems that take a little while to correct just go with the 3 inch, but you are going to need a transfer case drop or a SYE. And the kit wouldn't come with brake line extenders. Good luck man!

The Zone 4.25 combo is the way to go on a small budget. The one thing you should consider is a good front adjustable track bar...either Currie, Metalcloak, or JKS. Metalcloak has the best clearance for the least $'s TJ/LJ Jeep Wrangler Solid Chromoly Front Track Bar
This will keep you from having to redrill the axle end track bar hole in a weaker part of the bracket, and also provide you with adjustment and a much nicer set up over all. You will need extended brake lines with either the 3" kit or the combo kit if he plans on disconnecting and wheeling it at all.

I agree 100% with what Water Dog said. The adjustable trackbar is a MUST. I went with MetalCloak and I am really happy with it. I dont have the extended brake lines on mine yet, as I plan on completely redoing all of my brakes. Cylinders and lines. But as of now, my lines arent straining at all.

I just installed my Zone combo, and I still had a very little bit of vibe. I installed a couple of washers on each bolt (which I don't mind because it also helps me keep that area clean and rust free), and it seems to have taken care of the vibes.
