Yet another "my engine sounds like a diesel" thread

Sorry, I know this is posted a lot and I've read threads all over the internet about this, but I wonder if you guys (and gals) could take a quick listen to this and see what you think.

First video is after the jeep has been sitting for 3 or 4 hours and it never got properly warmed up when I drove it then.

Second one is after driving it around for 20 minutes or so and it's at operating temp.

Oil pressure is good, engine has 131,000 on it. I know the spark plugs need changed badly, I plan on doing a good tuneup on it in a week or so.

Thanks for the listen

Mine makes the same sound, I took it to my drag racer mechanic he works on Jeeps also and he said its a lifter or a rocker arm. Said not to worry about it. Annoys the hell outa me tho. But I have driven it 4 k miles now and it's still going

I had a Wrangler that made exactly the same noise. I had a mechanic tell me it was a rocker arm, and that it would run fine. I didn't believe him, so I opened up the engine myself. I think I damaged one on a previous breakdown. But I closed it back up and drove it for two more years (till I cracked the pan and burned up the engine). You can fix it if you want, but it's not critical....just annoying when you want a sweet sounding ride.
