When your wife puts you in the doghouse and all you think about is the extra time you'll have with your tj.

when you've been in the operating room in surgery all day... walk outside at midnight exhausted, and still take time to take the top off before driving the fifteen minutes home.

Same! On monday I hit 100 mph for the first time ever. My friend and I almost crapped our pants. We were down hill in 6th gear flooring it. It took awhile but we made it.

Haha yea, we got up to 100 then had to slow down cuz there was a corner and there was no way we were taking it at that speed. After that we got behind some cars but they moved over when I had my bumper right in their rear view mirror at 70. We then hit 80-85 once or twice more before we got back in the city

I drove 2-3 hours from Houston to Rockport. Pretty much 75 mph the entire way. On like 3/4 a tank.

I've topped out at 95. Straight even road with a tailwind. But my jeep is pretty stock, so yeah.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. A Jeep wreck at those speeds will almost certainly be fatal. In high speed situations, Jeeps would be even harder to survive from a crash than many cars. At lower speeds, Jeeps usually win in an accident, at high speeds.....I hope you are living right.

1 time thing. Just wanted to see how fast I could go... I usually never go faster than 75. High speeds in a jeep scare me.

It only takes once. Heck even 75 is way too fast in a Jeep imo. I have never even broke 70 in mine and rarely get above 60 -65. Cruise about 55-60 you will see a noticeable increase in mpg as well.

im gonna have to drive mine all the way to FL when i head back to school this fall...imnot looking forward to it at all. im affraid to hold much over 65 in mine (2.5" lift and 33's) espescially since its a 4cyl. i dont wanna spend that much on gas, or put that many miles on it or the tires that i just got. :/ but towing it is more expensive. so i guess people are just gonna have to deal with me doing 65 the whole way. lol
if you need me, ill be in the right lane. haha

Ahh you'll be fine. I drove mine from Florida to Chicago when I bought it with my gf. (who drove for 1 1/2 hours!). Talk about a long, painful drive!

Why does everyone think doing anything over 70 in our TJ's is scary? I have 3.25" lift and 33"s 3.73 gears and my Jeep will hit 80 without me realizing it sometimes. I did 95 once cause I was trying to keep up with my girlfriend in her camaro, but it was steady and smooth. I didn't get the "I'm gonna die" effect. I even had the top down.

Same. I've hit 100 and I don't even have a sway bar. It was fine. A lil rumble from the tires is all

It's not that going fast is so bad, its if you lose control at high speeds where it can be an issue. A large gust of wind of an uneven roadway absolutely can upset the handling characteristics of a Jeep more so than most cars. Overcorrecting for something like that would be easier to wreck your Jeep than most cars. In my case, my steering is much more responsive than pretty much any vehicle I've ever had.
So there's your answer.

When your late to work, and you don't realize you left your lunch in the passenger seat until you hear it skidding across the pavement as you take that turn to quickly.
