Zipper for soft top rear window...

Hey guys
My soft top's rear window zipper broke off last year when I was taking it off for the winter to put my hardtop on and today I put my soft top on because it's supposed to rain tomorrow... My solution to 'zip' the rear window was to put silver duct tape on the back of the window holding it up inside and on the outside I put some black gorilla tape, I don't think this will last long at all...

My question is... I noticed some people roll up their rear windows, but how?? Do they have two zippers on there or what? I usually just keep my rear window on and just flop it back...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jeez, before I can even type a response, I need to provide some terminology so what I'm trying to say can be followed. So:

CHAIN: The continuous piece that is formed when both halves of a zipper are meshed together.
TEETH: The individual elements that make up the chain.
SLIDER: The device that moves up and down the chain to open or close the zipper.
PULL TAB: The part of the slider that you hold to move the slider up or down.

Is that a stock top? What piece/part "broke"?

You have two pull tabs and sliders on a stock top. To remove the window you have to pull them so that they are both on the same end (I always do the drivers side but I don't think that is required) and then the chain can be broken by pulling the teeth out thru both sliders.

So, unless you only have one slider or they are both broke, you should still be in business.

I learned on my old top that you can only REMOVE the window by pulling the slider on the passenger side toward the driver side...if you pull the one on the driver side toward the passenger side, you'll have it fully unzipped but the stop on the end won't pull out of the sliders from that end...so they're essentially held on by a thread.

To roll the window up, I believe you unzip both sliders up until they meet in the middle. Then you roll it up and there should be some straps with snaps or something up on top to wrap around the rolled up window and keep it rolled up.

The part that is broken is the slider.. I guess it was so tight it popped off last year..

Do you ever roll your window up since you only have one zipper? If so, how?

You should be able to have the zipper replaced by a boat/awning/upholstery/shoe/dry cleaning/alteration shop. I have seen zippers for sale on the web if they can't provide you one. They may be able to simply replace the broken slider. Removing all the goop from the top and window from all the tape may be another story tho'.....

Get the tape off, it will not be good for your top.

take the jeep to an upholstery shop, they should be able to repair the Zipper for little $.
