Zone 3" lift DONE

Just some pictures of my Tj from the day i got it. it with out lift then with the lift on the back and then lift all done.

Is this with 31's? I ask because I'm thinking about the zone 4.25 combo lift and just doing the 3inch suspension until I can afford to buy 33's... If so I might do it because it doesn't look goofy like I thought it would.

Yes it is on 31s. I think it turned out pretty good. I will be getting 33s when I am due for new tires. I didn't measure yet but I am pretty sure I got more then 3 inches due to the fact that my factory springs were shot

Sweet, looks good I'm sure it will look even better with 33's.. At least I know that I can keep the 31's a little longer and still lift it.

Nice! Thanks for posting this.
I'm probably going to get the Zone 3" this summer and want to stick with my 31" KM2s... gives me a good idea on how it will look.
I also have the same Kargo Master rack. Love that thing!

Ya I love my kargo cage also. I use it all the time. The kit is pretty easy to install. If I had to do it again I would have not listened to everyone and got a spring compressor. YES it can be done with out it but it is a hugh pain. The rear was easy but the front springs were a pain. If I would have had a spring compressor it would have save a ton of time and a few bad words.

Man I love seeing threads about the 3 inch zone lift with good reviews, I just purchased this lift and its on its way now! I went ahead and bought the adjustable front track bar as I read many people had issues after they drilled the new hole. And I was planning on renting some spring compressors I heard its much easier and this just reassures me haha. Did you drill the new hole or buy an adjustable front track bar? Just curious

I did not get the adjustable track bar. I drilled the hole. It seemed to work just fine for me. I did drill it closer to an inch then the 3/4 of an inch the directions called for. The biggest problem I had with the install had nothing to do with the kit. I broke one shock bolt off each rear shock. The ones closest to the fuel tank. Both driver and passenger side. It sucked drilling them out. I went with a drill bit 2 sizes smalled then the bolt. Once the bit was 3/4 of the way through it pushed the bolt out the other side. I did have one issue issue with the kit. It says to reuse the sway bar link bolts that connect the sway bars to the from axle. I had to get new ones because the factory bolts would not fit through the new sway bar links. Not that big of a deal. ALSO make an appointment for a alignment right after you get the kit done. Unless you can do it your self. My jeep was ALLLLLLLL over the road between my place and the Alignment shop. After that it rides better then it did before I installed the lift. At first I didn't install the transcase drop and I didn't get any vibrations or anything. Someone then told me it will chew up ujoints so I installed it. Still no vibrations or anything it did kinda make 2nd a little tricky. If I think of anything else I will let ya know but it all was pretty simple. Took me 6 hours all by myslef with no air tools or lift.

The shocks I have on my jeep will work with the new lift as I have a 2 inch BB so its just going up an inch or two. So that will save some time, did you remove your tires for your install? My jack wont lift my jeep up high enough to get the tires off so I have to take it to a local do it yourself garage and pay an hourly fee. Real cheap but if I can do it here it would save some time and gas. I know its possible to without removing tires but just wonderimg if it would be a big pain .

I also have the Zone but went with the 4.25 combo... LOVE IT! I also went the adjustable track bar route with no issues at all. I installed the 1" mml that came with the combo have had no issues or vibrations. Did not need a SYE or TC drop either.

I don't know if you could do it with out taking the tires off or not. I don't see how. You could use the factory jack to get it high enough and use jack stands. To get the front springs on with out a spring compressor I had to jack the the other side all the way up so the side I was working on would go low enough. If it was me I would take the money you are going to pay someone and buy a jack and jack stands. . Then you will have the jack for the future upgrades.

Something made me pull off the highway a few exits early last night to stop by autozone and pick up a set knowing I had springs to do last night.... WOW, thank god for GUT FEELINGS... But, even with the spring compressors there was a bad word or two. I was hell bent to not disconnect the LCA.

Doing the 4.25 combo right now......solo......at a "less than swift" pace...

Hey guys. This is my first post on the site so excuse me if I mess something up. I am in the process of cleaning up the rust on the bottom of my 01 2.5L 5 speed. Next step is to put on a lift kit. From what ive read so far the zone lifts are pretty solid for the money but I just had a quick question. What kind of re gearing or other modifications would I have to make with a 4 inch zone suspension lift and 33 in tires? If any, can I get around doing those mods by getting a little smaller lift? I want a good look for 33s with some mild to advanced offroad performance.

The 4.25" Combo lift from Zone is very popular because many are in your same situation. As far as gearing, you have 4.11 now and you will want to think about getting 4.88 gears with 33's with the 2.5L/5speed.

Yes I used a forklift to put it on jack stands. So much nicer the a jack.

Thanks for the reply. What would go into gearing my jeep to 4.88? Is this something I could do myself? Will I need to regear with 33s regardless of the lift height?

It requires an exact "setup" for the Ring and Pinion gears to mess and align...so 99% of us have to have a shop do it. (~$1200 front and rear with parts/labor)

There are youtube videos out there on regearing to see what is involved.



I am still running 4.10's with 33's...it works. But 5th gear is useless. Its not horrible, but 4.88's is the way to go.

I didn't have a lift at home so I used some redneck engineering and lifted my jeep while it was lifted in the air by a forklift. Of course, I put jacks under the forks so I wouldn't have the jeep crush me, but it worked

When I rotate my tires I put the fork extensions on and pick the whole thing up. Its a nice perk of my job

For those who installed the 4.25 combo lift did you have to do anything to the rear track bar or just relocate the front? On a slight budget but so the adjustable is gonna have to wait for a few.

Kits comes with a bracket for the rear track bar.

The 4.25 Combo Lift comes with a rear track bar relocation bracket, so you can use your existing track bar.

@thegr8alex...mind sharing what you paid and where you purchased your parts. Also, what adjustable trackbar did you buy. i"m literally hours away from buying this lift (was planning to buy through rockridge) but want to make sure i've done my due diligence. Rockridge via EBbay (free shipping) is going to be tough to beat.

But many have bought their Zone kits from AOR on here.
