1988 Olympic Edition YJ - Special??

Anyone know about the 1988 Olympic Edition YJ? Is it a special creature? Is it worth more than a regular YJ? I have access to buy one, at a very good price. This thing is clean, clean, clean!!! 6 cyl, 5 speed, hard top, 126K orig miles. Was pulled behind a motor home most of its life. Interior looks new, no scratches or dents..and is an "Olympic Edition". What would you say it is worth?

this came up before, but i didn't find it on a search. i don't think there's a special yj. as long as its not ugly like the renegade i would buy it. probably just has special stickers and trim. it is a 88, 4.2 so i wouldn't say its worth more then 3 or 4 grand in good shape.

what's the deal?

I did a search as well and found nothing! I would rate it in excellent shape, seriously. Old couples Jeep that accumulated miles being hauled around by a motorhome. I have not seen one this clean (not for a 1988 model).

That sounds like a dealer added option. Is it just decals or is there anything else?

Some decals, and some gold medal medallions type things.

I have the same edition, mine was white in color and in pretty good shape as well.

I know it was a package you could order at the dealer but if it was factory applied or not who knows. I just treated it like any other jeep and it is now all cut up and undergoing a major transformation ,

so yours just got a bit more valuable

I too have an olympic jeep. Mine is black with the gold trim. Absolutely love the thing. Got it cheap (around 2k) a couple of years ago from a guy in Minnesota. I just wanted one because of the rarity- I can't tell too much difference between mine and a regular yj- I have a list of the options that were added because of the "olympic edition" but I can't remember off the top of my head. Its just nice to have something unusual, and with so many jeeps on the road people really take notice when you have something as rare as an 88 olympic edition running around.

Talking 1988 jeep wrangler olympic edition

I use to own a 1988 jeep wrangler olympic edition. To give you a little background on it, it was buit special for the 1988 us olympic team. These jeeps once they came off the line they were torn back down and retreated to prevent rust. Then they were all hand reassembled. This is why you don't find they very often and when you do see them the body on them is always in great shape. I also have a 1992 wrangler that has already on its second paint job, with rust infront of the doors where most jeeps rust, but the 1988 still looks like the day it was new. I pulled the 4.2 L out of mine and put in a 355 chevy. The Olympic edition is very rare, and are hard to come by. Most people don't know it unless you know someone who bought one first hand. Defenatly worth more than regular wrangler. Hope this helps.

Send a message via Yahoo to Nubby55
If your going to keep it stock as an antic maybe more, but once you change any thing it's just a jeep.
