Question 1988 Wrangler

Hey guys I found a 1988 wrangler on craigslist that I am interested in.

here is the link:
1988 jeep wrangler

The owner said he will send some more pictures of it to me.
It has 150000 miles on it.
small rust on the corner of the passenger door.
3" body lift. (I know that is bad and I plan on getting rid of it if I buy it)

The owner says that all routine maintenance was done to the vehicle and he recently put in new brakes in the front.

He is asking 3250 for it. Is that a good price?

I am going to talk with my parents tonight and if they agree on it my dad and I will drive down on sunday and test drive it and take a look at it in person. Would do it saturday but it is Yom Kippur...

Thanks in advance

It seems good from what's written but cant see it for ourselves. As long as the rust isn't HUGE it's a quick fix. But those superswampers I'm not sure about. If this is your DD then you're going to need to buy new tires. The swamper will burn thru gas so fast your head will spin pluss they'll wear fast on the road. Great for off road but will kill you on roads. What axels are in it, just one top or 2? Do you have a few dollars to put in it right off the bat? let us knwo how it goes, good luck

I paid 3200 for my 88. but mine had 90,000 miles on it. Same stats too. but no rust. Just be careful about it, just because it is Craigslist.

Thanks for the info guys.

@jayc: I will find out about the axles when I go see it. I might have a little bit left to do upgrades off of the bat but most likely not much and would have to save up for a couple of months before doing anything really expensive.

I have some additional questions:
At 150K miles are there some expensive maintenance coming up on the Jeeps lifetime? I mean even if everything was taken care of and everything is working fine is there anything just because of its age that will need to be changed?

How much do new 33" tires normally cost. Yes it all depends on type and whatnot but I mean just average cost of new good 33" tires.

I got mine for 4k. No rust, under coated, 114k miles. Auto trans, a/c. Hard top, soft top, and bikini top. All still stock w/ nice radio. Was garage kept. I priced some tires at $700 for most tires.

i was looking into the dick cepecks mud and country or the KM2s and for 5 they were around 700 for them. that was on the tirerack website when you get it you might want to do the basics for sure like changing all the fluids but as for serious engine stuff IDK sorry, hopefully someone on here can help you out on that.
