hello wrangler forum im lookin to buy a 1990 yj from a co-worker. it needs some brake work i know but its nothing i cant do.i have access to a lift.my question is what else should i look for when im checking this thing out?
Rust, rust, and more rust.look under the carpet,at the frame and attachment points for all major components,ie: steering box, gas tank mounts, shackle attaching points, well, you'll see what i mean. Oh, welcome to the rich and famous yj owners club.unk:
it has some tub rust i know i really dont care about cosmetic rust but i guess we'll see how it is on the frame. it has a plow so im sure the u joints are shot and prob the tie rods but for me thats a way to bring the price down
ok i checked it out last night and to my surprise its an auto:9lame:
how hard is a ax-15 swap?
or is it even worth my time if i want a standard trans should i try to find a different one?
this 90' has 208xxx and a plow that to me is asking for it on a auto trans am i wrong to think this?
its only $750
some input would be helpful
If you want a project and you want the whole thing to be yours I would do it. But if you are looking for a jeep you can put a little into and get alot out of I would keep looking. Sounds like its going to need more than you think.
from what uve said i would run from that if its in the shape it sounds its in and to do what you want to do to it you will have to sink a good bit of time and money into it. you would be better off to spend more to begin with to get one you dont have to do a lot to
The Auto is a good trans
dont be scared of it
I would not buy a jeep that was used
to plow for a driver but a toy maybe
If it has hard top and hard doors
go buy it
6 or 4 cyl??
if it runs and drives and isnt falling apart from rust id give 750 sight unseen
