3.5" Black Diamond Lift?

Anyone have any experience with the 3.5" suspension lift by Black Diamond? Is it any good? Are the shocks that come with it ok? I am trying to choose between the black diamond, superlift, or rough country lift kits. If anyone has any comments on any of these lifts, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

I have a BD lift on a 88 yj; 1 1/2 ". Purchased as a kit with shocks and tranny-skid drop. Well satisfied but ride is rough and I have nothing else to compare to. I would imagine you might have to put sye kit on driveshaft with a 3.5 in lift. Maybe someone else will chime in on the sye.

Read the sticky on lift reviews.

i have a Rough country 4" lift after 2yrs or so the shocks went dead, ive lived with that cuz i really dont care to get new shocks as im used to rough rides. i also have u joint issues since the lift gone thru 7 or 8. it could just be my bad luck idk but thats my 2 cents

I put a 3.5" lift on an 1988 about 5 years ago. Prior was factory shocks and leaf springs that had lost alot of rigidity. Hit a curb pretty fast during winter and turned the original front springs from concave to convex. The Black Diamond kit was pretty complete (and quadratrac will make it right if its not) and the installation was a weekend for myself alone. You will want the dropped pitman and some brake line extenders. I put the kit in as instructed and think that the drag arm (after bracket extenders) install stiffens the suspension alot. I am considering one of those JKS telescoping drag arms to hopefully aleviate. Some bump steer was also present after the new install. My Jeep drove noticeably rougher after the install, but I think that is pretty normal for any new heavier suspension, and my reference (before the install) suspension did have some issues. I have yet to install an SYE and really haven't noticed noise vibration. Did initially notice some drive shaft noises, but these quickly disipated after some highway machining/driving.

I have had a BD 3.5 inch lift for about a year on a 04 TJ. Yes the ride is a little rougher but I was expecting it to be. It's not bad and from what I understand any suspension lift will give a stiffer ride. I don't have a SYE but I'm considering it. I just replaced the U-joints on the front drive shaft which went bad. It may have just been their time but I suspect it was the additional wear from the lift. Overall I'm please.
