4" Suspension Lift?

When I bought my Jeep it had a 3" body lift, I have heard bad things about body lifts that big, so I'm wondering when I get some money should I put on a 4" suspension lift, and remove the BL? Also, I'm looking for a suspension lift that isn't extremely expensive (I'm in high school currently job hunting), I was looking at Rough Country, however I have heard some bad things about them. are they as bad as people say? any other brands recommended?

I like spring over axle lifts. They're cheap and easy, if you can weld(or have a friend that can weld). Not a big fan of Body lifts, all they do, as far as I can see is raise your center if gravity. Keep in mind with any lift kits will require SYE and CV drive shaft.

SOA seems like a lot of work as well to get it correct. Isn't it hard to line it up to weld? I am looking at the 4" Rough Country suspension lift as well, with a 1" body lift to clear 35's

Remember that lift springs are stiffer and can limit flex.. 4 inches with a 1in body lift might clear 35s but I doubt you'll have much flex room..

I can't say how Rough Country is yet. I have my 4 inch kit in the basement, my 33s in my garage, and my extended brake lines, spring bolts, and new bushings coming in the mail. Hoping to start thursday night and end by monday night. I'm in highschool too. Just got a job down a boat yard a few weeks ago. Good money to be honest.

I saved a lot of $$ though. My counsin's friend totaled his Jeep so he sold me his lift kit (brand new) for $250. I made out on that. Got tires for $620 on discount tire and I have yet to send in my $60 mail in rebate. And I got the brake lines and stuff myself. Hoping to get an SYE in about a month or so.

I run the RC 4" on mine, for the price, it is what I expected, it lifted the jeep does good enough offroad, rides like a lifted Jeep on the road. I don't run trac bars or the front sway bar, so I get a bit more flex than if they where hooked up. Compared to the 4" superlift I had on a CJ years ago, this is much better out of the box.

Check the YJ tech portion. It's really not that complicated.

This is just one of them. And he is doing a lot more than a simple SOA. He has excellant information on axle prep and set-up.

Rubicon Express has this kit w/PDF file so you can look at the installation instructions
RE5015 - YJ SPRING-OVER CONVERISON KIT - Rubicon Express

There are bolt-on kits;
Full-Traction Suspension Jeep YJ Wrangler Spring Over Axle Conversion Kit

Spring over axle lift for Jeep Wrangler, SOA

Not sure I can recommend the Rocky-Road kit. They have the lousiest customer service on the planet.

I'm just going to encourage you to review your options before deciding on which direction to go with your lift. Good Luck, and remember "THIS IS FUN".
