4 Wheel Drive

I am in the process of installing the posi-loc to take the place of the cad unit. I am looking for input from others on how they ran their cable and mounted it. Mine is a 1989, no lift and has the AC unit under the dash and I am thinking the AC unit really limits where this can go. Thanks for any feedback.

Well I guess I will be the first to install this and run the cable into the cab to activate it, I will follow up after I work out how and where to run the cable into the cab and where to mount it. The AC unit is the problem, if not for that it looks like routing the cable wouldn't be an issue.

Hey Batjac,

Don't have experience with your issue but wishing you luck. Maybe a more descriptive title to your thread starter would bring more eyeballs to the situation.

regards,

Maybe you are correct, I will keep that in mind next time but since it had been viewed by over one hundred people without feedback I assumed that no one else has had the issue of running the cable under the AC unit, and you do have to have the cad unit working to have four wheel drive. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not sure if a lot of people are using the cable these days, they tend to break or need constant adjustment after awhile. Personally, I use the stock setup, they work great if you maintain them, others prefer a solid axle, and others may like the cable, but since your question hasn't been answered..... maybe not.

Sorry no one has answered your question, including me!

Thank you, I am sure down the road there will be something different, probably solid axel. Just seemed like I was reading a lot of negative on the stock, I have only owned the jeep for a short time and found that the hoses would not stay on the actuator and the other end was off as well. The PO didn't have a clue it was there and I found it by accident. Don't want to get in a mud hole and them come off when I need them. This will be my short term fix till I decide which direction to go but hey if it works good for me it may be there from now on. I don't plan on getting into any ruff stuff. Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry you had to find out personally what a pain those are. That's why I recommended staying stock.
Good luck.

My 93 yj is my hunting rig, I traverse through a lot of brush and bad dirt roads and haven't had a problem with the hoses staying on the actuator. Just run it stock and and you might be surprised.

I have had one of these installed and in use for 10 years. I don't know how I could break it. It has never needed adjustment. I consider it a big upgrade from stock. I think the stock vacuum shift a weak link. I can not remember if I bought the short or long cable but I think it was the long. I hope the photo's help.

Thanks MW, that's exactly how I ran mine today and I agree it seems like a better set up to me. Can't wait to try it out. Great photos of your install thanks.
