4x4 shifter fork

Ok so I read a few threads.. On vacuum lines and all that jazz ... Now I have two problems I have a manual ba 10/5 I know it's garbage ... But I don't know if I have a 4x4 light indicator ... Also the actuator had a lot of play .... Slides back and forth with ease !! I'm thinking my shifter fork is broken ... If so how do I know ? And what should I get ... I'm on a budget... .... I'm getting so frustrated with my 4x4 but I'm kinda ify on getting a posi lock ... I don't understand it and I kinda don't want to go 4x4 all the time ...

I hope this makes sense ... Thanks jeepers

to check the fork just take off the 4 bolts on the actuator housing

if the vacuum lines are broken, the actuator will move without any resistance and the 4wd indicator light won't work since it works of the vacuum as well

the posi-lock doesn't make it 4wd all the time, only when you engage it and have the transfer case in 4wd

if the fork is still in one piece, you can lock it in the engaged position for free and not worry about the vacuum lines or the light

I would just flip the fork around and lock it permanently
