91 wrangler power loss

_________________________________________Hello everyone,

I have a 91 wrangler, I'm having a problem with power loss. It idles great and when in neutral it has no problem running. However when I take off, it starts off fine, till I get to about 3,000 rpms. When it hits that mark it acts like there is no more power. I can put my foot to the floor and nothing. It wont do over 45 MPH. Its like something is holding it back, there is no chugging or anything, just like it has reached a limit. I have tried to bleed the fuel line, incase it had an air bubble or something. It has good pressure in the*
line. I haven't crawled under check it, I was gonna check the fuel filter, just wondering if it had an in line filter? Any Ideas what would be causing it would be greatly*
appriciated.

Thanks everyone.*

Thanks for the idea, do you think it would hurt to just replace it with a strait pipe?

that would be illegal...federal law..you could take it loose and see if that solved your problem before replacing it

I don't think anyone will crawl under your Jeep to check if there's a cat in it. Just saying. How strict are the smog checks where you live? How often does your vehicle have to be smog checked?
