About to buy.... need help

I am about to buy a 1995 Wrangler with 190k miles on it. What are the most important things to check for and what are tell tale signs that I should walk away?

Is it a 2.5L or a 4L? If it's the 2.5L, check for leaking oil. The rear main seal is really hard to change -- have to drop the transmission and transfer case.

if it's a yj then definitely check frame for rust. in area of fuel filter drivers side rear look closely at frame towards inside of tire in front of axle. seems to be a common place to trap "sand" if it was used for beach duty. it may appear as just small perforation or like a crack in frame. the inside is gone and you are seeing just a shell. just below where fuel lines and brake lines return lines and fuel filter shield is. good luck....Driller

I know this forum is older but for anyone else buying. Check the frame to body mounts, they are notorious for rusting out due to moisture being retained in the mounts. Not a neccassary walk-away. However you could get them to severly drop the price say $1k or more then pay $90 for new mounts and either install yourself or pay someone to weld them in.

Hey I couldn't tell where your from cause I'm on my phone but if your in ct where? I'm in Norwalk I can check it out with you if it's not too far. I work at-an autobody shop and know enough mechanics to get by. So let me know or if that one doesn't work and you want to look at others.
