AEM Brute Force Intake WHISTLING

My intake is whistling (loudly) everytime I accelerate and then gets louder when I level off the throttle. I end of feathering the accelerator just to keep it from constantly doing it. I just cleaned it 2 weeks ago (correctly according to AEM directions) Now that my top is off it is incredibly distracting and really irritating! Any ideas why or how to fix?

:blunt:

so you put a new high flow filter or a intake manifold i am confused. i bought one of the cone filters for a car once and it did this, but only when accelerating. so i would say if its the filter then your stuck.

No I did not. I'll get one today and see if that fixes it. Thanks for the help!

I called AEM's tech support and they said that the whistling was normal because I removed the restrictive stock air intake system that muffled the "natural sounds of your engine." Apparently I'm supposed to drive around sounding like a jet engine when I accelerate. That's crap. Is there anyone else that has the AEM air intake system that doesn't have a whistling problem out there?

I've read many an article where people have put on aftermarket intakes, and the majority of them whistle or make some sort of noise. The throttle body spacers seem to do the same thing.

One of the reasons I'm keeping mine stock. It would drive me bug nuts.

It is driving me nuts. I'm about ready to put the stock one back on. I'm going to stop by the 4X4 shop and see if they have any suggextions first. The annoyance is not worth any performance gain I may or may not receive from it.

Mine does the same, even worse after I bolted a 4.0 TB on my 2.5.
You are forcing alot more air into your intake than it was designed for.

I did notice a difference with the bigger TB. I live in vermont and there are alot of hill's. The little 2.5 gained some power to get over them easier.
Maybe a little more high RPM power to.
Downsize it has a High Idle at start for a minute or so until the ECM figures out whats going on.
Couple weeks back I swapped in a Accel ignition coil. The old was getting week. I gained better throttle response and maybe a little more power.
If I was to do it all over Again I would have started with a 4.0
I have done: Electric fan,2.5" exhaust flowmaster 40 mufflers and high flow cat.
4.0 TB,cold air intake and coil.
Overall the 2.5 is a annoying little engine on the road, but decent offroad.
I am hoping next year to swap in a V8/sm465/231. have been gathering part's.
Need to finish up my scrambler first.

You should be able to pick up a TB for around $25 at a salvage yard.
Cash for clunker's filled the yards with zj's,xj's.
