Alternator hookup

I have tried remanufactured alternators from AZ, NAPA, etc. poor quality. I went to an armature service and picked up a 150 amp Delco that fits my YJ. It didn't come with instructions, one of the techs in the shop said "make sure you hook up the right terminals, or you will fry everything" It has two posts on it, one is supposed to hook up like the factory, the other is supposed to go directly to the battery...Does that sound right? does it need a regulator or something?

Regulators built in. But if it`s the one I`m thinking it is, it should also have a ground wire that grounds to the frame. You don`t really need it, it just supposed to help.
