Alternator Wiring questions

Okay I'm new here and new to jeeps. I just bought an 88 wrangler and I'm in the process of swapping in a 305/700r4 out of a 1990 chevy 4x4 truck and using a np 231 c tcase oput of an s10 blazer. My question is the alternator on the chevy has a bat post on the rear and plug with one wire comming from it. Can anyone explain or show some pics/diagrams. I'll probably be dropping it in tonight and fabbing up some engine mounts trying to get some unknowns buttoned up

If you can post a pic of the alt, & one pic of the plug socket for the field wire hookup it might be helpful.

The YJ harness connector is the "SI" type.

If your new alt is a "CS" type, there is an adapter at Napa. P/N EC82.

They may have other adapters available too.

It does look like a "CS" field connector, but I cant see the terminals under the connector.

If they look like one large square & three smaller squares, then the napa #EC82 should work. You just put it on the harness connector & plug the other end into the alt. It will take care of the extra harness wire. (2)

The alt appears to be a CS130, but I cant be sure. You might find the info on one of the mounting ears. Be careful, it's stamped very lightly. Don't use Scotchbright to clean it.

If you ever decide you need a higher output alternator, the CS144 is 140 amps.
These can be found at the junkyard in older GM vehicles, such as a Cadillac, or an Oldsmobile Silhouette. More info on this can be easily Googled.

Just the ticket for an electric fan, or a winch. That EC82 connector will fit the CS144 too.
Only thing is your stock wiring needs to be upgraded to some heavier gauge.
Again, Google is your friend!

Extreme Duty CS-144 type Alternator, High output alternator.
