Armor Weight and a 4 cyl

So as most of you know I posted earlier that I ordered flat flares, corner guards, rear flat flares, and a stinger bumper... Will this weigh down the 4 cyl too much? its all about 400 lbs. and if I add a winch you can say close to 500 lbs. Will I see a difference in ride height or performance? Or should I just be alittle more careful when loading the jeep up with people and gear?

You'll be lugging around 500 lbs of additional weight, which is approximately equivalent to three 166 lb passengers. Find some friends and load up the Jeep with them to get an approximation of the new curb weight. Take them for a drive and see how the Jeep handles with the extra weight.

I have a honda civic with a 4 cyl. and when there's 3 or 4 people in it it makes a BIG difference in pickup, gas mileage, and speed. I ALSO have a 4cyl 2.5 YJ , and though I have not driven it with more than 1 passenger, I am "WEIGHT CONSCIOUS" about how I mod it. I am going to stay away from heavy bumpers, jacks, racks, and winches for gas saving and daily driving. I would say for going wheeling, and crawling those things would be a benefit, but not regular driving. Depends on what you want to use it for.
It's a struggle enough to keep up on the highway with a 2.5 without adding extra weight.

But how much weight will you be removing when you take off stock fenders and bumper? maybe it won't be like adding 500 pounds after you subtract that weight.

I have put the bumper, rear corners and flares, and the rock sliders on it and honestly I can't tell a difference yet. I still have to put the front flares on though but I can't imagine it will change that much.

When I put my bumper and winch on in the front of my round springer TJ, the front end sagged by ~3/4"
