Audio Question

So I just got my 93 YJ about two weeks ago, already had it offroading and was driving last week and had the doors off and got caught in a HORRIBLE rain storm (which was AWESOME btw, I LOVED it). But that brings me to my question.
Would it be possible or even reasonable to put marine speakers and head unit in the jeep to keep from having to worry about them getting wet bc I noticed when I was driving in the rain that water was going everywhere on the dashboard. Would marine speakers and head unit work with the jeep?

Perfectly reasonable. No reason not too. Cost is pretty close to the same and the only issue you may have is finding the stereo that has the capabilities you want (sat radio/HD whatever) in a marine version.

Look on Overstock.com. I just got a Clarion Marine unit for under $100 and it fit a standard DIN mount. Installed it in my 89 YJ with Marine 4x6speakers. sounds good. Still deciding on what 6x9's to buy.

This also leads to the question of "Why don't they install a marine unit to begin with?"

now gentlemen, the jeep is not a toy to be trifled with. use it as it was intended. daily use to work and back and shopping runs. under normal use, water and mud proofing are not required.
