Bad day .. To go with 4.10 or higher

Ok so on the way to the carb shop my rear end carrier on my stock 3.07 Dana 35 took a dump. So after the carb was rebuilt the jeep was towed to a powertrain shop. So they are charging me 1200 dollars to rebuild my rear end from a open carrier to a posi with 4.10's.

My question is I'm on 33's and don't plan on going bigger so should I go with 4.10's or higher.

I feel like crap I'm spending 1200 on fixing a Dana 35. Arghhhhhhh but I don't have time to go out and do a 8.8 swap.....

Yeah I already bought a Dana 30 with 4.10's from a junk yard so I can go back into 4x4. I can't do the back axle swap cause I don't have access to a truck to pick up the Dana 35 so without me jeep running I can't pick up an axle and I don't have any friends that can help so I have to bite the bullet on this one plus I need the jeep running asap for my wifey.

At least it's pretty there. Post up on your state forums and ask for some help. Hell someone might even have a d35 laying around.

Sorry I can't be of more help than that.

Ditch the D35 and get yourself a bolt on 8.8 from ECGS:

Complete Ford 8.8" Rear Axle Assembly Jeep YJ Ready to Bolt In Axle Swap

Even with the gears and a locker you're looking at less than what the shop will charge.

I'd look more into the warranty. They'll say anything for your business. But yea, the one I want from ecgs is like 2000$ but with I tight budget I cut it down to 1060$. I'd say 2-300 for a junk yard d35 or go with the ecgs ford 8.8

Pretty obvious choice:

Keep futzing with the D35 all the time, or bolt in an 8.8 and fughettaboutit.

Yea, I wish I woulda known about ecgs when my first 35 went out. I'd rather pay 1060 for something that'll handle 35s all day than regearing something that struggles with 31s for 1200

he probably would get the 8.8 but he just said he needs the jeep running now. no time to do the welding etc, and I doubt he has the tools/welder.
