Bench seat in the front?

Anybody ever thought about doing this or done it? I am married with 3 kids and I cant haul everyone around in my jeep. I have thought about putting in a bench seat in the front. I was thinking about maybe a s10 seat with the flip down console. Any other ideas?

I'm in the same boat as you.. I have 3 kids and would love to take everyone out at once.. I have my jeep lifted enough and the wheel offset so i considered trimming the inner wheel tubs to half there size and sqeezing in a wider back seat..

If you put a bench seat in, how would you get in and out of the back? Would you split the seat so part of it goes forward or maybe use two passenger riser to lift the entire bench forward? Very interested in the end result.

S-10's also have what they call a 60-40 bench...

40% of the seat is for the driver and is like a regular bucket seat
60% is on the pass side.

both fold forward and would make it easy to get in and out i would think...

Thats exactly what I was thinking on the bench, a 60/40 from an s10. I have measured the width of one and its the same as my jeep buckets.

Any progress/pics on this bench seat venture? I'd be interested in something like that.

Not yet. It will probably be this weekend before I can try it. A friend of mine has a GMC Sonoma that I am going to pull the seat out just to try it. I will let you know.
