I know this topic has probably been beat to death but it's 2016 and all post I seen say 2012 and under some 2014 but for now what is the best lift for under 800 bucks max 1K can't go any higher , I plan on using it for daily driver with very MINIMAL off-road so that being said I have a 90 YJ 2.5 plan on getting 32' I have stock 4:10 with a 1.5 BL with ranchos 5000's all around. I want a 3.5', I know I should have waited on the ranchos but stock shocks were killing me
Best lift for a daily driver is no lift, but if you must Old Man Emu is regarded as the most comfortable riding
Note... Your 2.5 is going to struggle along with the AX 5 tranny turning larger than stock tires over prolonged duration, keep this in mind for your daily driver
Old Man Emu is the best for our YJs, but like everybody else has said the engine will not be happy about the tire size. If you wanted it looks like you may be able to fit an inch or two larger tires. Another option you could get 1" lift shackles. It'll give you another inch of lift, you keep your stock leafs, and 2.5" overall isn't that bad with the smaller engine(you'll still feel it, it's kinda the max before you end up needing to get a bigger engine).
I like what you said, I knew all along about my little engine but I keep seeing everyone else do it so I said wth if my jeep family jumps over a bridge so will I haha, but that shackle lift and the 2.5" seems like a good idea
So say I need to replace my leafs anyways because like I said they are old, I have a 1.5 BL already on there by PO what would you guys do mind you I will still keep my stock engine and axle, Replace to non lift springs? or will you guys get a better brand if so what type also my shackles look beat so might need to replace them
I have a 88 YJ with 31x10.50xR15 my leafs are flat and some even negative.. the tires run perfectly fine and I have 3 inches or so either way of turn to add if I wanted... I ordered the OME 2.5" suspension since its not had 1 bad review and its regarded as the best especially for on road.
I run with OME 36R springs on all four corners. OME shocks. Paired with 5/8" greaseable shackles it makes for a well proportioned stance on 31" tires with plenty of room for flex should you go offroad. A very comfortable ride for a daily driver. About as close to a Cadillac as you're gonna get in a YJ.
The OME lift could easily fit 32" tires with a 5/8" shackle lift and still look and function well.
I am using a six inch lift to push 35 tires with a 70 351 ford motor 4 on the floor but i mostly use 2 gears and the reverse occasionally in my 90 yj! YEE HAAA!!!, isn't that why we buy jeeps?
Post some pics of your Jeep. We all like to see the other guy's ride.
Good Luck, L.M.
