Looking to upgrade my shocks on my YJ. The ride is pretty rough with 33's and 4" shackle. Anyone have/tried any shocks/dampeners that actually make the ride smoother or somewhat better, haha?

For the money you cant beat Skyjacker Hydro 7000 shocks , I just put them on my YJ with SOA and 33" tires and man did they make a big difference in the ride. For less than $40.00 and a lifetime warranty you cant hardly go wrong.

Explain 4" shackles, is that hole to hole? I bought Bilstien, I've run them on my track cars for racing, my truck for toy hauling and my Jeep. They keep the tires on the road and help stabilize your vehicle no matter the road condition.

I have no experience with these shocks but have read a few articles about bilstein 5100 s . Apparently the designer modeled and valved them specifically for the YJ which was his dd at the time. I will be switching to these when mine wear out. Article was written in JP Magazine I believe. Will try to link it if I can later..

$400 for the set of 4.

I've been very happy with the 5100s with my BDS 3.5" SUA. I am however now looking to but something else as I believe I am finding their limits in some of the crawling I'm doing. They ride great onroad and for most offroad. HUGE improvement over what I had in there. My kids make comments about how much better it drives on the regular. I think I need to start looking at less of a direct bolt in option so that it can help keep the springs under control in certain rock crawling scenarios.
