30-31" tires depending on the 15" rim and backspacing.

A 30 will fit with a fair amount of room to flex. 31's will fit...for street use only. They will mash your fenders offroad if you use 31's on a none-lifted YJ. Also, for anything that is 10.50 wide or more, you should get aftermarket wheels with 3.75'' backspacing, or atleast something less than the 5.75'' on the stock wheels.

Are you going off-road? I put 1.25" lift shackles (which most people seem to frown on) and 33" Thornbirds (which even more people frown on...haha) on mine and have no problems, but the only off-road I'll ever be doing is the dirt trail up to my campsite. I haven't been able to get it to rub on the fenders at all. If I turn it to full lock the big side knobs will scrub the front leaf springs, but just barely. Good luck!

31's should fit if you are doing a body lift. I ran 30's on a stock YJ for a long time with no problem. I tried 31's that I had picked up along the way and and they rubbed pretty bad. My springs were sagging pretty bad though.
I would say 30's max if you are stock, 31's with a small body lift.

If you want to run 31's you will need 2" to 2-1/2" of lift otherwise as stated above you are asking for other problems. For 33's -- 4" of lift. If you are going to wheel it at all, @ 4" plan on adding SYE and new driveline.

This ones up my alley, i got a 95 yj and i have 30's under it theyre 30x9.5 they dont rub at all except for when your making a tight turn like a u turn thats the biggest im going on stock suspension and any wider i can imagine there would be a lot more rubbing when turning.

I think 30s are only in 9.5 inch

Are you running a stock 7 inch rim
or a 8

I'm running stock but when i get tires im gonna get a set of rims too(15x10?). i think im gonna go with a 2" body lift and 31's, cause it sounds like tht should be fine... I know i could probaly run a 31x12.50 but what backspacing will i need to run these with minimal to no rub?

*Update- I'm BRAND new to this Jeep thang. This is my first, I just got it a month ago. Anyway, I just went out and counted my leaf springs, because with the fit issues you guys are suggesting mine didn't add up. I figured out that I have add-a-leaf(s) on mine too so I guess I'm probably closer to 3" lift. No wonder this thing rattles my guts. I thought they just must ride rough.

No they won't. Sure you have 15x120's on a stock YJ? Something doesn't sound right. Pics as as well??

31x10.50x15 on 15x8's with 3.75 to 4" of Backspacing is the most common configuration.
