Break my back ride!!

My 88YJ has about 2.5"-4" lift with 33"/10.5/15 tires. Motor runs as smooth as butter now so that's a happy story. My problem is the ride quality, even the smallest crack on the street jolts the hell out my jeep and my back!! Feels as if I have no shocks at all!!! Rear is worse than front.

what can I do to fix this? Better shocks? New leafs? I don't want to buy seats with shocks.

Try Lowering your air pressure to around 25-28. while on the ground loosten the shackle bolts and then re torque them. the PO may have just tightened them while still on the lift.

In addition to the above, if you still have the track bars, try removing them.

When it comes to springs and shocks, stiffness does vary by manufacturer and model/size.

If removing the track bars, retorquing the shackles and adjusting the air pressure doesn't solve the rough ride, you are probably looking at either new shocks, different (softer) springs, or both.

^ What he said up there. I have an 88 with 1 1/2" springs. Removing the track bars made a huge difference in ride quality. And no problems with the way it handles.

Do I have to jack the jeep up to remove rear track bar? How easy or difficult is it to remove it?

Nope, you can do it on the ground ... But be careful not to strip the Torx screws use a 1/2" breaker bar or you'll be bustin' out the torch !

I just cut my one end off and it's just fine and then cut apart the bar and made a tow hook

I feel silly asking this, but where is the rear track bar? I can't spot it at all? Can I see it from the back? or from the center of the jeep?

Rear trac bar bolts to the axle on the drivers side and bolts on the passenger side frame ....you can see it from behind your Jeep if you look up under it
