2 years ago I purchased a Pavement Ends cab cover on sale for under 50 bucks. The label on it says Bestop. My Jeep is heavily modified-no spare tire or lantern lights, so I put snaps all around the tub and 3 on each door to secure the top. I also attached 4 pieces of laminate floor panels (they are thin and strong) to form an X with sides that I put across the rollcage to prevent pooling. But since the material is not really waterproof, I worry it may leak through (or if I forget to put the X support up). I don't see why all the company's don't do what Bestop did on their good cover and make it out of top material or something that is really water proof. It is confusing the way the descriptions read-good for light rain, water resistant, etc.
My concern with the pole/teepee solution is that unless you make some secure base for it, then it could slip from the wind then you will have a giant pool leaking into your Jeep. I found an idea that used PVC plumbing tubes to go across the rollbar from the left to the right. It involved cutting a T union in half, then having the pipe a little too long so it bows up, like the one they sell. Problem was, it kept slipping and then the pipe bowed down. The one that is sold looks like a ski, and looks like it works, but is installed permanently. And who wants to drive around with that thing in the summertime???
