Car seat in YJ Advice

I'll be putting my 2 year old in a forward facing carseat in a 1993 YJ. Any advice or dos/don'ts about doing this?

If the 1993 YJs have air bags, I would put the kiddo in the back seat on the passenger side and have the Mrs. ride back there also.
There has been some scuttlebutt online about kids in carseats being injured during rear end collisions. The front passenger seat folds and the front seat passengers head clobbers the poor kid in the rear.

If your Jeep doesn't have airbags, I think it would be OK to put the carseat in the front for simplicity sake.

My youngest is 46yo and never sat in a carseat so I am unfamiliar with all the nuances.
I do believe kids are much safer in them and although I want the government out of my life, I understand why they are mandatory in most if not all states.

Good Luck, L.M.

Check your state laws...its different in every state....my youngest just turn 5....In my state you can't use booster seats with lap belts...that's what's in that back seat...but as long as they can sit with there back against the seat and knees bend over the front edge you don't need one...Stop by the local police dept or ems station and they can provide you info based on your state laws.
