CB Radio

Ok, just ordered my first CB! I got the Uniden PRO 510XL radio. Wilson FLEX 4' antenna. Passenger side tail light mount. Basic SWR meter. 18' Coax cable. and Cigarette lighter power adaptor. All for $165.

Now, what I am wondering is, where to mount it? I have a 91 YJ, so if anyone has any pics of your CB and where it is mounted, could you post them to give me some ideas??

Thanks guys!

Wow! Never thought of that! That looks like it would work well. Also since I don't have a rear view mirror mounted! Haha!

But, does the wire get in the way while you are driving?
and what happens if you wanna put the windshield down?

just trying to look at the devil's advocate side of everything to make sure I make the right decision on the mounting, because I really dont wanna have to move it after a couple months or something...

I understand 100% I don't put my windshield down (Don't know How)! And no the coax and power wire don't get in the way! I went to Wal-mart and got little clips and they keep it all up out of the way!

That looks good too! Didn't think of that either... So many options! I am just looking for an effective place where it won't get damaged or in the way! and where I can run the wires easily

Ya, i love driving with the windshield down on nice days! It's a pain in the butt to get it down and back up, and I'm sure dangerous, but it's pretty cool!

I bought my 1991 YJ a few months ago and it came with a overhead gun rack. This is where I mounted my CB.

Oh, cool! I was wondering how I should run the wiring and where I should connect the power to... got the cigarette adaptor for it, but would like a better solution!

I have a 94 YJ, and this is what I did.

I went to Lowes and got a 1 inch by 1 inch square metal tube. It was 4 feet long. This almost fit straight across between my roll bars. I then had a friend weld on a flat piece of metal on both sides and I drilled a 1/2 inch hole through the top, and both sides of the roll bar. I then got two bolts, and bolted the bar between the roll bar about an inch in front of the windshield. I also cut a hole in the back of the tubing so I could run my wires for the CB.

Here is what it looks like

I have also mounted a GPS system to it.

Hope this helps.

OH WOW! I really like that, looks clean and well put together! I can get pretty handy with fabricating things, so that looks like a thing I might tackle!

I took my cigar lighter and tray out and mounted it right there. Then I mounted a dual power outlet right next to it
