Crappy performance

Just bought an 88 YJ Laredo.
Was running well when I bought it. Then I gave it a full service etc, then put in a new fuel pump. Timed it. And then when i get it out on the road at lower rpm's when i put my foot on the gas it splutters and feels like its going to stall. When warmed up it runs a little better. but still splutters when at low rpms. Going to change the oxygen sensor, although it has just passed a smog test! Any ideas on what could be my problem? What else should I be checking? Thanks for your help.

Well if it ran well when you got it, I would have to think its something you did while working on it.

Why did you mess with the timing? Well I would start there. Get it up to running temp. and check it. May have moved. Go from there.

You're right, It's all in the timing. Got a friend to help.

Went back, checked again, re timed and all's well in YJ land.

Got the rest of it right as well.

Thank you
