Cup Holder too short

1993 YJ, the original center console cup holders are too short to hold anything. There is plenty of room under the plastic insert but I cant find one online.
Any ideas?

Which console...The early one with two cup holders in the rear of the lid, or the later one with two tandem ones up front?

Post a pic of what you have. Someone should be able to help.

Well that console doesn't look like an original, that being said though the original center consoles can't hold a drink well at all unless you drive very carefully.

Reminds me of the one time I was bringing a coffee to someone at work, didn't realize until after I bought the cup just how bad those cup holders really are. I had to jam a few cassettes between the cup and console to hold it in place, somehow I managed to not spill a drop though.

It appears to be a Rugged Ridge console. Check these out for a match.

The one in the picture above is the Rugged Ridge Ultimate Locking Console in Spice. I used to have the Tuffy Series II Security Console, 8" Wide in my YJ and loved it! The cup holders are in the front and are deep enough to hold onto whatever sized cup you put there.

Tuffy Series II Wrangler Security Console, 8 In. wide, Spice 012-04 (91-95 Wrangler YJ) - Free Shipping

Here is what I did to mine using scrap. One top piece and two legs. Measure depth you want (I used a water bottle) cut legs to size. My next step is to add netting or a screen to prevent stuff from falling in.

I used a round metal mesh desk organizer that is used for holding pens and stuff and put inside the cup holder. Now it's tall enough to actually hold a cup, works great lol.

I was hoping there was an aftermarket insert or something... Time to get out the drill.

Alot of newer vehicles have rubber inserts in there cup holders . I grabbed a set out of I think an explorer at the junk yard, and they fit like a glove in there. About an inch taller, and will hold a fast food cup, turvis cup, or a beer in a cozy perfectly.
