death of a jeep

My jeep is totaled. Was stopped at a red light when out of nowhere a car comes drifting into my lane and hits me head on... Anyone have tips on dealing with the other party's insurance company? I do not have full coverage so I have to do all the work myself

Will possibly have a hardtop and full doors for sale... I'm located in New Jersey

I hope you weren't injured. I would call their insurance company and get the ball rolling if you don't need medical attention. They will send an adjuster to look at the Jeep and write you a check. I don't know what to do if their offer isn't fair. I was hit a few years ago and called the ladies insurance co. An adjuster came and printed a check for more than the car was worth. I also kept the car and sold it. I came out ahead in that deal, but it doesn't always go that way. I had the check two days after the accident. You might want toget a personal injury attorney if you have any major medical problems from the wreck and their insurance gives you problems covering the medical bills.

I wasn't hurt. Just a bump and scrape. My baby did take care of me, just look at all the damage to the car that hit me.. I'm so incredibly depressed I feel Iike a part of me died with that jeep.

I surely hope they can make this quick. When I was hit in my Nissan, it took almost 9 months to get a check, it was rediculous. I need to buy a jeep asap :/

Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to buy a yj. I think I might pull the trigger on a tJ or jk as soon as this is resolved :/

To save future probs, go to doc and get checked out. Tell administration u were in a car accident and the other insurance company is to pay PIP. Usually pretty straight forward. U will be sore a few days after...usually neck tightening. Get it documented. Call other insurance asap and tell them u need to settle up on jeep now, and medical bills later. If they balk at all, tell hem u arent sure yet, but ur medical might be pretty extensive, but u r willing to settle all if they act fast. They will want to get away from any med bills asap.
This is coming from someone "in the know" btw.
Good luck. Hope ur ok.

Thanks for the info. Only problem is I couldn't get the drivers info as they had to take him away. He wasn't bad but it all happened so fast and he was gone to go get checked up. So now I have to wait a few days for the police report. If I go to the police station will they give me the drivers info?? Or do I have to wait 7 said for the police report? The officer told me 7 - 10 days :/

Call a few lawyers and ask them if you have anything. If you do they will be all over you.

If they consider your Jeep totaled your insurance company will only give you Book Value of the Jeep. When mine was totaled, I got the money, bought it back, and then fixed the damage with what I got back. If the accident wrapped the frame, it's not worth fixing, it might be worth more parting it out though.

I'm really sorry to hear all this man. It's not fair other people's stupidity ruins it for our Jeeps. I was in the same boat and I pray it all works out for your advantage. Where was the accident at? (I'm in NJ too).

that jeep could be fixed in a weekend, get a used frame sand blast and paint it. then get a used front end off a junk yard jeep or make your own custom fenders. I bought my '87 with a bent frame and messed up front end too. it be a shame to have that nice jeep go to waste!

There is extensive damage underneath. The engine and tranny were shattered. No way to repair without spending more then it's worth.
