Question Different oil filter for 2.5L YJ (Canadian / American)

Does any one happen to know if there is indeed a difference in the oil filter for the 2.5l 4 cyl depending on where it was manufactured?

It shouldn't... build location has almost nothing to do with parts used.

This is why I ask..... I am having oil blow-by real bad with my YJ...I was told by Grandpajeeper that I may have the wrong oil filter on...this lead to where was the jeep manufactured because of different parts being used.....

this was posted by 18jeeper on another thread I started a few days back.

"Make sure you know were you jeep came from. Mine was Canadian and the cap, rotor, and oil filter are not the same."

hmm - never heard of that. Only time I've had oil blow is with a bent valve. Is it coming out of the dip stick tube? But just out of curiosity, you know the brand and part number of the filter you used?

Yeah it was me. The only way i found out was because I had to replace the cap and rotor. They kept giving me the wrong ones from shmucks and we finaly found that the cap and rotor from the canadian jeep worked.

It comes out of the top of the valve cover where the PCV valve is located and the other port on top of the valve cover that has that little round black thing stuck in it. Basically, it all comes from the top of the valve cover......

Did ya replace the PCV valve? PCV (Positive Crank Ventilation)

yea...new rubber grommits (sp?)......I just don't know....the damn oil psi runs between 70-80 lbs ALL the time now.....when the engine get good and warm / hot...the oil psi is still around 65-70 psi

If anything a wrong filter wouldn't seal right and you'd lose pressure. But if your constantly running that high I'd be worried about spinning a bearing or something.

I figure it's just a matter of time before it pukes a piston out the side of the block....It does still run very well...just the blow-by and oil psi issue....
