differential fluid

Book calls for 5.6-5.8 pints of Synthetic 75W - 140 in differential. I have put in 6 pints and still there is no fluid coming out of the filler hole. I think its because of the pinion angle. Should I just leave it at 6 pints or should I fill it until fluid comes out of filler hole?

You have to be talking about your 8.8 here since the D35 only holds 4 pints.

For the 8.8 since you fill it in the front you aren't going to get it to come up to the fill hole. If you've already put in 6 pints that's plenty. If you over fill then you are going to start spewing diff fluid out the breather tube like you wouldn't believe.

Also does your 8.8 have the factory limited slip? If it doesn't then you should be fine using 80-90w instead of the 75-140.

I don't believe that it is a limited slip. From what I can tell, it is a comvential. The tag on the cover says to use 75- 140 synthetic. Thats what I put in at $16 a bottle....how can I tell for sure about the limited slip? I read the tag and from what I remember, when I looked it up it was an open carrier.

If you axle tag numbers told you it was an open carrier then I'm sure it is.

Anyone know of a site where I can run the numbers off of the carrier to confirm the lsd/conventional rear end?
