DIY Off-Road Light Mounts?

Anyone have any ideas for some DIY off road light mounts? I just can't seem to justify in my head spending $35-$50 on some windshield or hood mounts that look like they cost $5 to make. I have a set of Hella 500's (Hella 500 Series Driving & Fog Lamps Kits) from a previous vehicle that I'd like to reuse.

Cost me less than two bucks. I think some of those light mounts are overpriced.

Are these a part that's readily available at a hardware store?

My dad buys these from the metal supplier because its tougher and cheaper but if your not near any im sure you can find something from a hardware store

Basically mines a flat one of these with a hole at each end. I cut a small groove at the place I wanted to bend it so it's bends easily and sits snug under the windshield hinge. And I used a specific drill bit that makes room for the screw to sit flush with the mount so it's secure.
