I'm in North Carolina and drive doorless and only have my rearview mirror. I don't particularly like it, but I'll tell you I've gotten used to it and find that I do a better job checking around me by just craning my neck about. Perhaps not the safest route. Also, I've been pulled a couple of times (by highway patrol) and nothing has been said about my lack of side view mirrors. I even pulled over to talk to the foot patrol in my little village and the officers didn't notice or care there either.

ps - perhaps if I were not lazy and cheap, I'd get a couple of side mirrors!! :P

CJ throwback mirrors... Here's the best pics i could find of them... I got them at jeep4x4center.com

you can kinda see how they're mounted on the top half of the windshield hinges... and they are not flashy at all

however... the only thing is that the passenger side mirror is completely useless with the tops of the doors on... so I just turn my head

but, they are cheap, about 30 bucks for the pair and VERY easy install, just follow the directions or it'll take twice as long

order yourself a qudratech catalog. they are free 1-800-745-5337
there are alot of other catalogs, this is just the first 1 i picked up off the shelf. i have what are called olympic safari mirrors i put on mine when i take the doors off on my 95 yj. it is basicly a piece of round roll stock that slides in the top pin hole for your door that is threaded on the end, angles out with the mirror included, and you just tighten the nut. it takes longer to adjust your mirrors then it does to install them.
pro's- they are on the side with no obstruction of view like other mirrors where you have to look thru the windshield to see your passenger side mirror with the ones that bolt on to the windshield frame.
cons- you have to remove them to put your doors back on(takes about 1 minute per side)
they come in black, or stainless 59.99 a pair part number 11047.9201(black) or 11047.9200 (stainless) cheep, safe, legal alternative to hardmount mirrors. hope this helps

Who needs mirrors anyway? It's not a law to have mirrors here.

I made some from a pair of bell bike mirrors that are sold at wal-mart for 5 bucks each and they look great are legal and can be turned any way you can think and the wind does not catch them and move them around driving at highway speeds.

If you have to have them I like Scott Howards idea. But really.....who cares, I cant tell you how long i've been driving around without mirrors and have not been stopped yet (knock on wood). I see a lot of threads on here asking about mirrors and I really dont understand why.
