engine question

I have a 1990 wrangler. Was just wondering how to tell if my rebuilt engine is fuel injection or not.

4.2 is carbed, 4.0 is injected. the 4 cyl in 90 was throttle body injected, and i'm pretty sure that 90 was the last year for 4.2 in wrangler.

but to answer your question, you will see a fuel rail on the driver's side of the engine, there would be 6 fuel injectors in a row, or if its carbed, you'll have a big carb on the top, and i think a rounder air cleaner. the air cleaner on a fuel injected jeep is on the front driver corner of the engine bay, not on the engine.

^^^^You are correct on 90 being the last year for the 4.2L. The carb should be mounted up on the drivers side of the engine.
