Factory Leaf Springs?

Hey Yall,

My Dad has a 87 YJ and my question is, how many leafs are in factory leaf springs front and rear on a YJ? His has like 5 in the back and 6 in the front and 31x10.50 15s. everything clears fine, of course but we are wondering if he has add a leafs for suspension lift or something. maybe the previous owner did it, either way any info would help. oh and if we go back to factory springs, will the 31's still clear? thanks again yall.

Josh

I too have an '87 YJ and I only have 5 in front and back. Thats good to know that 31s fit, I really dont have the time to do a lift and I want to put my 31s on mine.

31's rubbed on my 87 when it had stock springs. Mostly just on the fender flares. A little trimming with a utility knife and it was fine. Another alternative to lift for 31's would be TJ flares and a sawzall. The TJ flaser have larger openings and should clear 31's fine. Of cours with the larger openings a little sheet metal will have to go.

thank ya'll, i sure do appreciate the help. mike, i'm sorry, i think i worded my post wrong, yes my dad's has 31's on it right now but it also has add-a-leafs in the front and rear. i would go with what daddyjeep said about the flares cause i am positive dad's is not factory ride height. sorry about that man. ya'll take it easy.
